The search for the ice scream starts now…
Everybody loves ice cream!
There seem to be many ice cream joints opening one after another and here I’m going to travel around the island in search of my favorite ice cream joint.
First Stop
Ice Cream Chef
520 East Coast Road, #01-06, Ocean Park
Tel: 6446 6355
Sun – Thurs 12noon – 10pm
Fri – Sat 12noon – 11pm
Ice Cream Chef has been around for quite awhile since June 2007. This small joint has always been packed with people and seats are constrain due to the limited space. At Ice Cream Chef, you’re your own chef, you get to choose which flavor and what mix-ins you want to create your prefect ice cream combi and what is the best part of this place? They have lots of flavors and mix-in available.
SOP for Ice Cream Chef
Step 1: Pick your favorite ice cream flavor
Step 2: Pick the mix-ins you want in your ice cream
Step 3: Watch the chef “cook” your ice cream on the cold rock in front of you
Step 4: Enjoy your creation.
DISCLAIMER: The above “SOP” are solely my own, that’s what I do when I’m here for my ice cream fix.
Come here to be spoilt for choice. These are the few flavors that I pretty much like in particular.
They are: Horlicks, Nutty Peanut Butter and Nutella.
Horlicks – Still remember the old school taste of Horlicks? I simply love the version here. Rich and creamy horlicks with Froot Loops. It’s simple bliss for me!
Nutty Peanut Butter – Just imagine opening a new jar of cold chunky peanut butter with your special mix-in. Yes, it’s as rich as that!
Nutella – I’m a sucker for anything Nutella. If you’re wondering if I’m those people that can open the Nutella and eat straight from the jar, I’m telling you YES! Sinful indeed but well, who cares?
The ice creams here are generally creamier and higher in sugar content(IMO) than the next stop that we’re heading. If I’m driving in e east, this is one place that I will keep in view for ice cream if not I don’t think I will drive all the way here to satisfy my ice cream cravings. Oh, TUE is free mix-in day. The first mix-in is FREE!

Second Stop
Ice Queen Ice Cream
505 Beach Road, #01-83, Golden Mile Food Centre
A recommendation from a fellow reviewer from HGW trigger my ice cream craving and here I’m to try out their gelato ice creams. Yes, you heard me right. Hawker centre and gelato ice creams. I know these town doesn’t seem to gel very well but hey, don’t go judging too fast. The gelato ice creams here are of good qualities and they’re healthy too!
I’ve tried the their White Sesame and Earl Grey Tea gelato ice cream and I simply love it.
This place has the BEST sesame gelato (IMO) even nicer than those Japanese joint out there. Or perhaps it’s the only WHITE sesame gelato I’ve tried caused most place sell black sesame instead. The Earl Grey on the other hand is light on my palate, very refreshing and smooth on throat.
Oh read below…healthy alert *blink blink blink * Read below…
Healthy isn’t it? I somehow prefer the gelato here as I feel it’s smooth and not overly sweet. A plus point for me, it’s near my house, only 10mins drive again. =)

Third Stop
U.D.D.E.R.S Ice Cream
155 Thomson Road, Goldhill Shopping Centre
Tel: 6254 6629
Sun – Thurs 12noon – 11pm
Fri, Sat & Eve of PH – 12noon – 12am
The search still goes on and this stop we’ve reached Thomson Road. U.D.D.E.R.S is located just beside United Square. If you see starbucks, you’ll see this place. It’s just opp starbucks. This place serve lots of flavors. From your old school vanilla to fanciful choice like salted caramel, King of Cat Mountain(durian), Chempadak and Pistachio.
The King of Cat Mountain is SUPER YUMMY!!! You have to taste it to believe it. Durian lovers this is a DIE DIE MUST TRY flavor.
Need some alcohol boast? Try their Lychee Martini, Triple Sec Chocolate and Orange Chocolate (something, can’t remember this). All these premium ice cream, not only taste good and they’re friendly to your wallet too. The plus point of this place is they have cards and games provided just like your usual game cafe (think settlers cafe) but here you don’t have to pay for your games! Beside ice creams, they’ve waffles and hot chocolate to die for. Need a comfort mug of Hot Chocolate? Come here and have it top with marshmallows.
TASTE RATING: 7.5 OUT OF 10 (Bias due to King of Cat Mountain)
